Hey hey, Burrito here. I'm new to the forum and today I thought I'd ask you all a quick question about your Pokemon team.
Does nicknaming your Pokemon make you more emotionally attached to them?
Do you even nickname your Pokemon? Do you find changing a Pokemon's nickname after playing a large portoin of the game using that name hard?
I must stop myself before I start to ramble. That's already two extra questions!
Either way, I look forward to hearing from everyone about your ideas behind Pokemon nicknaming.

Short answer, for me: Yes, definitely!
I nickname all my pokemon, even the random ones I catch just for the 'dex.
My favourite pokemon, and my first ever pokemon, strangely enough, is "AMPHAROS" (cos I traded him off my brother's friend's game and wasn't able to nickname him). But all my other guys I like to name. I would find it difficult to change a pokemon's name that already had one... I can't think that I've done that before. If I did I can imagine that I'd probably forget I'd changed the name, and revert back to calling it by the old name xD
I think naming a pokemon gives it a personality immediately. It's harder to think "hmm what would an oddish be like" as opposed to "hmm I wonder how Rose would react to this..." sort of thing.

I understand what you mean. I feel the exact same way! I become very attached to my Pokemon and strive to give them unique names.
In Black and White last year I traded away a Boldore I nicknamed "TV Dinner" (for a reason I have yet to remember). I still remember her!
My first Pokemon was nicknamed Kyoko.

Sometimes. Also seeing it is an RPG I make myself a Pokemon traveling rather than the character because sometimes I dont feel like been the human. Such as my Beartic is called: Warbear777.

I Always name my Pokemon!  (Except in The explorer or rescuer games cos I dosen't seem to make as much sense... xD) I think I do get more attached to Pokemon with nicknames, they feel much more like fleshed out characters, and really it's like nameing a pet or the name of your friend, since you don't call them dog or person, if you get what I mean. As for the other question, I think it's REALLY hard to rename a Pokemon after a long period of time, my first ever Pokemon I trained and named was my Flygon, and because I was like, what, 7? I named it Flappy (yeah not so creative) after I got older and started to become very fussy over names, I could still never rename him, it's really hard, especially if your like me and have huge nostialgia! xD But in the end it's the same Pokemon even if it has a different name, I've already renicknamed my first ever Pokemon and I dosen't change how much I love him, it jsut took awhile to decide to do so. |

I didn't start nicknaming my Pokemon often until around last year, but since then I've named everything I ever got. The first Pokemon I ever nicknamed was a Gardevoir (well a Ralts, really), back in Ruby, and she's got a character now! I never really wanted to nickname Pokemon in the first two generations. I just wasn't that sort of kid I guess xD

I've always nicknamed my pokemon, ever since I started playing!
Even if they aren't going into my team! Although in my opinion it makes me more attached to my pokemon because it feels more personal :3 I can't ever re-name them too. Even if they have names I don't like, I can't get myself to change it D:

i get very attached to Pokemon that i nickname. sometimes if they have strange names or the names of my closest friends then they're my favourite Pokemon. like, i have a Garchomp named Gabamily and it's my dragon type in my Heart Gold version. My favourite pokemon in my party of heart gold is my shiny Umbreon named Devony (also my name btw). I nickname ALL of my Pokemon, and i mean ALL of them. some of them just have the silliest names, but the silliest name for a Pokemon goes to my brother who named one of his Pokemon the following "wasteofpokeba" it was meant to say wast of pokeballs but the end of pokeballs didn't fit. XD. I don't ever use the name-rater..... EVER.
